SIP trunking carries voice and supplementary services over a single IP connection between an enterprise PBX (or CPaaS / CCaaS platform) and a telecommunications carrier. It replaces legacy time-division-multiplexed lines (ISDN PRI, T1, E1) with packet-based signalling and media.
What codecs do GlobalXess SIP trunks support?
G.711a, G.711u, G.722 (HD voice), G.729 and Opus are all supported. The trunk is provisioned with a customer-specific codec preference list and falls back gracefully when a far-end leg has restricted codec support.
Is the trunk encrypted?
GlobalXess supports mutual TLS for signalling and SRTP for media on customer request. Public-internet trunks always use TLS for signalling. Encryption posture is documented per customer in the trunk handover note.
